In case you forgot, we put together this blog to cover all the exciting things took place at MCG in 2019 — and oh boy, did we sure set the bar for 2020!

Rebranding into MCG Career College
In August, MCG officially launched a new brand. What began as the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy became MCG Career College. More than a technical training institution, MCG is a gathering place for a community of innovators in health and wellness training.

Make a difference in your community

Become a Medical First Responder (MFR)!

Medical First Responder (MFR) is a comprehensive program for people looking to work or volunteer in the area of emergency first response. If you’re interested in fire rescue, police service or safety and security, you might be a good fit for MFR training!

The MFR course can empower students with the knowledge and skills to provide basic first-on-scene medical care to patients before and after Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrives. Many police, industrial organizations, safety and security enforcement agencies and remote operations need emergency and medically trained personnel. MCG Career College is pleased to offer this unique education experience and thrives on providing a place for people to grow into a new career.

7 ways to give students a sense of belonging

Be part of a community

A sense of belonging is a basic human need, just like food or shelter. It enables us to have the ability to see value in life and to cope with challenges. A sense of belonging makes us feel like there is a community behind us and boosts our confidence. It also makes us feel relaxed, receptive and motivated to succeed.

Bottom line: feeling like we belong is conducive to learning and academic success.

At MCG, we realize that we are on the front lines of affecting positive change and creating the right atmosphere for students to succeed. Since we originally opened our doors as the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy (NIMT), and evolved into MCG Career College in 2019, our faculty and instructors have followed a few simple, yet effective, ways to provide students with a sense of belonging in the classroom. Now we want to encourage everyone to apply these methods to creating their own communities.

Private colleges expecting boost following provincial budget

NEWS RELEASE — MCG Career College and other private vocational colleges are preparing to receive more inquiries from prospective students following the Alberta Provincial Budget that slashed operating grants and lifted the tuition freeze for government-funding post-secondary institutions.

While many students remain on wait lists for post-secondary programs in the allied health field, MCG Career College is ready to accept applications for positions in the allied health field that funnel directly into in-demand positions in industry.

“Our programs are approved by the government, but we are funded by private dollars, which allows us to manage our costs and programming internally,??? explains Carmen Sheridan, Dean of MCG Career College.
