Basic Relaxation Massage Diploma

Overview

Our Basic Relaxation Massage Diploma instructors live, eat and breathe massage. Over the course of our Basic Relaxation Massage Diploma, our instructors take students through a fantastic journey, learning about massage and the body, entirely from a massage point of view. Content includes Swedish Relaxation Massage as the foundation, as well as an introduction to therapeutic techniques.

Diploma structure.

The Basic Relaxation Massage Diploma is a blend of distance and classroom learning, with a hands-on, practical component. Upon successful completion of all requirements, students will receive a Diploma in Massage Therapy (1008 Hours).

MODULAR BASED SYSTEM:

A modular-based curriculum delivery approach presents a flexible and adaptable educational framework, catering to individual learning needs and enhancing student engagement through relevant, hands-on content. By allowing sequential advancement, it ensures a solid foundation, efficient resource utilization, and increased accessibility, particularly in remote learning environments. 

With an emphasis on critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-directed learning, modular-based curricula prepare students for the challenges of a rapidly changing world, while also fostering consistency and standardization on a global scale.

Entrance Requirements

All applicants must meet with an MCG Career College Admissions team representative.

Standard Admission:

  1. Alberta High School Diploma verified by official transcript showing a minimum of 60% in Grade 11 English OR non Alberta Equivalent OR official documentation of successful completion of General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) with a minimum 60% in English.
  2. Doctor’s referral stating that the applicant is physically capable of working full time as a massage therapist.

Mature Admission:

  1. Out of school for one year plus 50 credits towards a high school diploma with a minimum of 60% in at least one English course verified by official transcript.
  2. Doctor’s referral stating that the applicant is physically capable of working full time as a massage therapist.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Students must meet the English language requirements through ONE of the following:

  1. Successful completion of Grade 12 Alberta Education English Language Arts or non-Alberta equivalent. (High school diplomas that are not from Canada will be verified by IQAS or the World Education Services Gateway Program.
  2. Transcripts demonstrating the successful completion of, at minimum, once year (two semesters) of full-time post-secondary education at a school where English was the primary language of instruction in a recognized national where English is the primary language of instruction.
  3. Demonstrating a Canadian Language Benchmark of at least 7, through one of the following assessments:
    • IELTS Academic (minimum band score of [6.0]).
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE) with a minimum score of 53.
    • Duolingo with a score between 105-115.
    • TOEFL with a minimum score of 71.
