A new name, a new look — a new type of college experience
Can you believe that 2019 is wrapping up? If you’re like us at MCG, you’ve been taking some time over the month to reflect on all that took place in the last year and planning for what you want the new year to look like.
In case you forgot, we put together this blog to cover all the exciting things took place at MCG in 2019 — and oh boy, did we sure set the bar for 2020!
Rebranding into MCG Career College
In August, MCG officially launched a new brand. What began as the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy became MCG Career College. More than a technical training institution, MCG is a gathering place for a community of innovators in health and wellness training. By providing relevant education, top instruction and flexible programming that fits life, MCG launched with the goal of empowering students with the confidence and skills they need to become leaders and business owners in our community.
Opening of our Calgary campus
In September 2019, MCG opened the doors to a brand-new Calgary campus, located at 220 – 4774 Westwinds Drive NE. The campus launched with our Basic Massage Therapy and Advanced Massage Therapy programs, and has since expanded to include the Medical Office Assistant & Unit Clerk program, a number of first aid programs, and most recently, Privacy, Confidentiality and Security Training. In addition to offering amazing programs and a unique learning experience, students enjoy many other perks of studying at this location, including:
- Easy access via Calgary Transit
- Plenty of free parking!
- Close to all the amenities of the McKnight Shopping Centre, a major grocery store, restaurants and retail stores
- Green space to take a break, such as Prairie Winds Park
- Close by fitness facilities, like the new Genesis Centre
Offering more for students
Since rebranding in August, MCG has expanded beyond massage therapy programs, and now offers a number of programs, including:
- Basic Massage Therapy
- Advanced Massage Therapy
- Medical Office Assistant and Unit Clerk
- Basic Life Support & CPR
- Medical First Responder
- Psychological First Aid
- Standard First Aid with CPR / AED
- Privacy, Confidentiality and Security Training: Private Sector Organizations
As MCG Dean Carmen Sheridan points out, “the new ‘typical’ student can’t stop life to go to college. Whether they are just out of high school or changing careers, they need a program that is set up to balance their many other commitments. We harness technology to support a flexible learning environment for students. MCG Career College programs are designed to fit around your life, not the other way around.???
