Diploma structure

Students will develop the skills through a combined learning model delivered in 1 year that provides students with practical hands-on experience through simulations and content from CPIM, CIFFA, PMI, APICS, Supply Chain Canada, and ASCM

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS.

All applicants must meet with an MCG Career College Admissions team representative.

Standard Admission:

  1. Alberta High School diploma, verified by transcript or non-Alberta equivalent, OR successful completion of the General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.).
    High School Diplomas that are not from Canada must be verified by IQAS of the World Education Services Gateway Program.
  2. Be at least 18 years of age. (Must be at least 19 years of age if from B.C., New Brunswick, Newfoundland, NWT, Nunavut, Yukon, Manitoba).
    • British Columbia Applicants: The student has graduated from grade 12 or equivalent (B.C. high school diploma, B.C. Adult Graduation Diploma, General Educational Development) or an equivalent secondary school completion from another jurisdiction.
  3. At least 50% in Math 30-1 or Math 30-2 or equivalents or at least 50% in English Language Arts 30-1 or English Language Arts 30-2 or equivalents.

Mature Admission:

  1. Be at least 18 years of age. (Must be at least 19 years of age if from B.C., New Brunswick, Newfoundland, NWT, Nunavut, Yukon, Manitoba).
    • British Columbia Applicants: The student is 19 years of age or older before the start of classes and has demonstrated evidence of the appropriate level of literacy, numeracy, comprehension, and/or writing skills to enable successful completion of the program.
  2. Must successfully complete a Wonderlic academic achievement test with a minimum score of 16 out of 30.
  3. At least 50% in Math 30-1 or Math 30-2 or equivalents.
 

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Students must meet the English language requirements through ONE of the following:

  1. Successful completion of Grade 12 Alberta Education English Language Arts or non-Alberta equivalent. (High school diplomas that are not from Canada will be verified by IQAS or the World Education Services Gateway Program.
  2. Transcripts demonstrating the successful completion of, at minimum, one year (two semesters) of full-time post-secondary education at a school where English was the primary language of instruction in a recognized nation where English is the primary language of instruction.
  3. Demonstrating a Canadian Language Benchmark of at least 7, through one of the following assessments:
    • IELTS Academic (minimum band score of [6.0]).
    • Pearson Test of English (PTE) with a minimum score of 53.

This program is designed to prepare students for careers in Global Operations and Supply Chain management. It equips students with essential skills in logistics, procurement, and strategic planning to succeed in today's interconnected business world.

Students will undergo a 60-week program that combines various learning methods. They will gain practical hands-on experience through simulations and receive content aligned with organizations such as CPIM, CIFFA, FITT, and ASCM.

The tuition costs for the Global Operations and Supply Chain Diploma program are as follows:

Tuition Year 1: $7,500.00

Additionally, there is a non-refundable application fee of $500.00 for both international and domestic students.

Academic Strategies
This course provides students with the
transitional skills need to enhance their chances
of success in an academic environment. Topics
include time management, basic budgeting and
financial management, study skills, research and
exam taking skills alongside basic peer
networking, systems orientations, and student
policy reviews.

Academic Writing
This course introduces students to the process
of academic writing research, and reporting. In
addition to basic grammar and written
structures, students will be using the official
style of the American Psychological Association
(APA) where they learn how to appropriately
develop, research, format and cite academic
papers.

Computer Applications
Students will learn the basics of the Microsoft
Office suite of programs and the practical
application of these programs in a professional
office environment.

Business Math
Introductory mathematics demanded for
business operations, including graphs of
functions, series totality, mathematics of
finance, cash inflow, internal rate of return,
permutations, combinations, introductory
statistics, and probability.

Business Communications
Business Communication teaches the students
how to plan, organize and write correct and
effective business documents applicable for use
in the current business landscape. Students will
learn how to write business letters, memos,
reports, and electronic dispatches.


Workplace Hazardous Materials Information
System (Via Worksite Safety)
Students will gain knowledge in WHMIS 2015
and its alignment with Globally Harmonized
System (GHS). Topics include hazardous product
classification, workplace labeling standards, and
safety data sheets.


Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid
A comprehensive blended course (8 hours
online and 5.5-7.5 hours classroom) offering
first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
(CPR) skills for those who need training due to
work requirements or who want more
knowledge to respond to emergencies.
Intro to Supply Chain Management
Students are introduced to the importance of
Supply Chain Management (SCM) and its critical
role in enhancing a company's overall
performance. Students will learn the
management of goods, services, finance, and
knowledge flows, as well as inter-organizational
relationships, The importance of effective
supply chain coordination we be emphasized.


Procurement
This course provides students with a thorough
understanding of procurement, purchasing, and
supply management, highlighting their strategic
and tactical elements. Topics include the
procurement process, make-or-buy decisions,
cost analysis, and supplier evaluation, along with insights into e-procurement technologies and services procurement.

Logistics and Transportation
This course provides students with an
understanding of Logistics and transportation,
focusing on transportation modes,
warehousing, and inventory management,
students will learn key logistics analytical tools,
industry regulations, and outsourcing with
3PLs/4PLs. Focus is placed on strategic logistics
decisions and aligning strategies with
organizational goals, to enhance supply chain
performance.
Operations Management
This course focuses on transformation systems
impact the value of products and services.
Emphasizing Just-In-Time (JIT) and lean
production, students develop proficiency in
process flow analysis and quality management.
and introduces fundamental project
management concepts.

Project Management
This course introduces the principles and
practices of effective project management.
Students learn about the life cycle of a project,
from initiation and planning to execution and
closure, with an emphasis on practical skills and
real-world applications. Topics covered include
project scope, time, cost, quality management,
risk assessment, stakeholder management, and
team leadership.

Lean Six Sigma
This course teaches the principles of Lean Six
Sigma, which involve the minimization of waste,
errors, and delays (Lean) while also ensuring
quality and consistency (Six Sigma). Significant is
placed on process improvement and variation
reduction to assure the provision of high- quality, cost-effective, and time-efficient products and services.

Information Systems
Students will learn the use of information
systems in global supply chain management,
emphasizing the optimization of operations,
logistics, and decision-making through
technology. Key technologies such as ERP and
data analytics are also explored.

Negotiation
Students learn the strategies and techniques
with a focus on practical applications,
preparing, conducting, and concluding
negotiations. Students learn negotiation
planning, communication skills, conflict
resolution, and tactics for complex negotiations.

Contract Management
Contract management teaches practical skills in
bidding and contracting processes, prioritizing
hands-on learning over theory. It covers
drafting competitive bidding documents,
understanding competitive bidding law,
contract formation basics, and contract
management best practices. A significant
feature is a project where students create a
Request for Proposal (RFP) and receive expert
feedback.

Ethical Behaviour and Social Responsibility
This course provides students with an
understanding of ethical principles in business,
particularly in supply chain management.
Students will learn the skills to tackle ethical
challenges, understand social responsibility, and
implement sustainable practices will be covered
as well as environmental issues, fair trade,
social procurement policies, and diversity in
supply chains.

Certified in Production and Inventory
Management – Part 1 and 2
By earning the APICS Certified Planning and
Inventory Management (CPIM) designation,
students develop competencies to successfully
work across all functions of the supply chain. In
addition, students will have the knowledge to
effectively manage risks and disruptions, as well
as leverage technology to streamline processes.

International Transportation and Trade
Students learn the foundations of freight
forwarding in the context of international trade,
how to manage risks by selecting the
appropriate Incoterm for a shipment, how to
calculate freight charges and load shipments,
and the types of equipment and documentation
used to move goods by land, air and ocean
modes of transport.

Essentials of Freight Forwarding
Students Learn about commercial documents
and regulatory compliance, export packaging,
transportation of dangerous goods, how to
devise alternative transport solutions for
clients, and properly cost and quote on a
shipment, and how buyers and sellers manage
risk with a variety of international payment
methods and cargo insurance.

Cargo Security and Dangerous Goods
Train and certify to ship dangerous goods by air,
sea, or land. Students can feel confident that
our training and certification meet all Canadian
and industry standards, including IATA, ICAO,
IMDG, and Transport Canada.

Career Planning and Integration
Students will be provided coaching and
guidance on how to transition from being a
student to the workforce. Career networking
strategies including resume formatting,
interview guidance and professional social
media usage alongside a basic understanding of
job search techniques will be covered in this
course.


Practicum
Students will complete a mandatory unpaid
200-hour practicum where they will apply their
newly learned skills in a practical environment
with a local host.
