Market yourself on LinkedIn

Get noticed with a virtual resume for yourself and your business!

Since its inception in 2003, LinkedIn has grown from a basic resume site into a highly effective social networking platform for professionals. Today, LinkedIn is used to build relationships, stay up-to-date with industry trends, find jobs or get leads for businesses. It’s never too late to join LinkedIn — below are some helpful tips to get you started!

Build your personal profile or company page
Begin with your personal LinkedIn account and make sure that it’s current and accurate. Start with a professional-looking headshot, then develop a memorable headline and take some time to craft a biography that represents you and your experience.

If you own a business, create a LinkedIn company page. Company pages rank high in search results, so having even a basic profile will be useful to you in the long-term. LinkedIn also provides company pages with demographic data about their followers and analytics on each post. These metrics are great for gaining a better understanding of your audience.

Show your expertise
For many people, LinkedIn is a trusted information source. Because you’re connected to like-minded people, you’re more likely to relate to the content on their news feeds, and they to yours. Remember that LinkedIn is for professionals, whereas Facebook is better for posting about personal things — babies, puppies, travel, etc. Avoid the personal and establish yourself as a massage therapy expert by curating thought-provoking and helpful content in a consistent manner. Better yet, start publishing and sharing your own blogs using LinkedIn’s easy-to-use publishing feature!

Join industry groups
Joining groups on LinkedIn is a great way to expand your network, learn more about working in your field and bolster your credibility. Search for RMT groups in your area and be sure to participate in the conversation by commenting on existing content and posting your own. Share a relevant article about a topic in massage therapy and then engage with the group by asking a question like, “What does everyone think about this new technique for healing???? Groups are beneficial because they contain your peers but also a pool of potential new clients.

Consider LinkedIn Sponsored Content
If you’re thinking about spending money on advertising, but not sure where to start, LinkedIn sponsored content is a great option, as it’s easy-to-use and budget friendly. This method of digital marketing allows you to take your best-performing organic content to a broader, more targeted audience for a variety of goals – reaching new audiences, gaining followers or driving traffic to your website. Don’t forget about your connections
If someone accepts your connection request, be sure to follow-up with a personal “thank-you??? message. Foster that relationship by engaging in their content and by actively commenting and liking the posts that pop up in your newsfeed. LinkedIn is an engagement-driven site, which means the more you like, comment and share, the more visible your page is to others, and the greater your reach!
