Medical Terminology Instructor
Job Description: As a Medical Office Assistant and Unit Clerk Instructor, you will play a vital role in training and preparing students for successful careers in healthcare administration. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction, developing engaging lesson plans, and assessing student performance. This position requires in-depth knowledge and expertise in medical office administration, unit clerk responsibilities, and the latest practices and standards within the Canadian healthcare industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate curriculum delivery, focusing on medical office practices, administrative duties, and healthcare technologies.
- Develop and adapt instructional materials to meet program learning objectives.
- Inspire and mentor students to ensure academic success and readiness for the workplace.
- Stay current on advancements in healthcare practices, software, and administrative systems to keep program content relevant.
- Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and practical evaluations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A degree, diploma, certificate, or professional designation in a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of recent experience in medical office administration or healthcare settings(recent experience in hospitals or acute care clinics is preferred).
- At least 1 year of instructional experience or a recognized adult education training certificate.
- Advanced computer skills, including proficiency in Google, MS Office, Moodle, and communication software.
- Proficient with Telus Health, Accuro EMR, Meditech, Alberta Netcare,Connect Care (EPIC), and healthcare software.
- Strong knowledge of Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology
- Flexibility to work during daytime and evening hours
Preferred Skills and Attributes:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to motivate and inspire adult learners.
- Knowledge of current trends in healthcare administration and education.
- Experience working within collaborative team environments.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of a recent Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search, in compliance with Alberta Health Services standards.
