Position Summary
We are seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Addictions and Health Services to support the final stages of development for our Health Services and Addictions Diploma Program. This SME will provide critical expertise in curriculum design, industry alignment, and competency mapping, particularly with CACCF and other applicable standards.
This contract position will also offer the potential for the candidate to transition into a teaching or instructional role within the program once it launches, making it ideal for a professional who wants to influence both curriculum and classroom practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the curriculum development team to finalize course outlines, learning objectives, and instructional materials
- Review and refine content to ensure alignment with CACCF core competencies, industry best practices, and ethical standards
- Recommend practical learning assessments and delivery models tailored to adult learners
- Consult on the integration of trauma-informed, inclusive, and culturally relevant content
- Advise on credentialing pathways and practicum requirements, if applicable
- Participate in academic quality assurance processes, including program evaluation and feedback integration
- Serve as a key advisor to the Dean and the Academic team on industry trends and regulatory expectations
- (Optional) Transition into a faculty or teaching position upon program launch
Qualifications
Required:
- Extensive professional experience in addictions counselling, health services, or related mental health fields
- Deep understanding of the Canadian context for addictions and health services, including regulatory, ethical, and clinical frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to develop or evaluate curriculum and educational materials
- CACCF certification
- Experience teaching in a post-secondary or adult education environment
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Alberta’s post-secondary education system or private career colleges
- Experience working with Indigenous or equity-seeking populations
