DUOLINGO Experience Required

Position Summary
MCG Career College is currently seeking a qualified ESL (English as a Second Language) Instructor to facilitate 2-week evening courses for adult learners. Each course will conclude with a final language proficiency assessment using the Duolingo English Test. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Education and play a key role in supporting our learners’ language acquisition journey.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging ESL instruction to small adult learner cohorts over a 2-week evening cycle
• Support students in developing practical English skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing
• Provide coaching and preparation for the Duolingo English Test
• Monitor learner progress and provide individualized feedback
• Maintain accurate attendance and assessment records
• Collaborate with the Director of Education to ensure alignment with curriculum goals and learning outcomes

Required Qualifications

• Current Alberta resident
• Recognized ESL teaching credentials (e.g., TESL Canada Standard Level 1 or higher, CELTA, or equivalent)
• Experience teaching ESL to adult learners (1 year minimum preferred)
• Familiarity with standardized language testing, particularly the Duolingo English Test
• Ability to use digital teaching tools and platforms effectively (for potential remote delivery)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
