MCG College is looking for a high energy Admissions Advisor

Reporting to the Admissions Manager the Admissions Advisor, determines student applicants’ admissibility to MCG College’s various programs and courses. Evaluate transcripts and assign students to appropriate academic units. Advises potential students on admission requirements and options, transfers, and related issues. Visits and makes presentations to groups and/or individuals at external locations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Determines admissibility, and transferability of credit for all new and readmitted students; provides input and recommendations in determining admissibility of “special consideration” cases.
  • Advises students and families about educational opportunities, admission, transfer of credit, financial assistance, and college policies and requirements.
  • Participates in school visitations and college programs for prospective students; coordinates on-site admissions at branches, organizations, and high schools; represents the college in its recruitment efforts and in providing special outreach services in the community.
  • Maintains communication via telephone, text correspondence, and/or electronic mail with prospective students through all stages of the recruitment and admission process.
  • Utilizes computerized systems to communicate with students, process admissions, prepare reports, and/or analyze data.
  • Participates in various campus committees and professional organizations.
  • Assists with the formulation, development, and implementation of admissions-related policies and procedures.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Post-Secondary Education

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues.
  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to evaluate student transcripts and/or records.
  • Post Secondary (College Diploma, Degree) preferred
  • Experience working at a Regulated Career College preferred

Applicants must reside in EDMONTON – Alberta Canada

All applicants to MCG Career College must complete a police information check (inclusive of Canada-wide criminal record history, vulnerable sector search and police history) prior to the confirmation of employment. Given the time that it may take to secure this check, the offer of employment will be provisional until clearance is provided.

Job Types: Permanent, Full-time

Base Salary: $45,000.00 – $50,000

Schedule: 8-hour shift

Supplemental pay types: Commission pay
