Getting Started

Admissions Process

Our admissions team can facilitate meetings through technology, making the process accessible from anywhere in the world. Anyone wishing to enroll is required to meet with an admissions advisor who will guide you through each step.

Meet with an Admissions Advisor

This can be facilitated through technology — video call, phone, or in person at any of our three Alberta campuses.

Meet Admission Requirements

Meet the admission and selection requirements of your program. Transcript and educational credential equivalencies may be assessed through IQAS (International Qualifications Assessment Service) or WES (World Education Services).

Complete & Execute Application

Complete and fully execute an application form and/or enrollment contract with your Admissions Advisor.

Meet English Language Proficiency

Demonstrate your English language proficiency through one of the accepted pathways listed below.

Meet with a Student Finance Coordinator

Arrange funding and review the financial aid options available to you as an international student.

Language Requirements

English Language Proficiency

All applicants must demonstrate proficiency in English in addition to their general and program-specific admission requirements. There are three accepted pathways.

Successful completion of Grade 12 Alberta English Language Arts, or non-Alberta equivalent, verified by transcripts. (High school diplomas not from Canada must be verified by IQAS or the World Education Services Gateway Program.)

Transcripts demonstrating the successful completion of, at minimum, one year (two semesters) of full-time post-secondary education at a school in a recognised nation where English was the primary language of instruction.

If English was not the language of instruction, the applicant must meet the minimum English Language Proficiency standard via an approved test. English test scores are valid if dated within two years of application.

Immigration

Study & Work Permits

As an international student you will need to arrange your immigration documents through the Government of Canada. Our admissions team can help guide you to the right resources.

Study Permit

You must contact Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to apply for a study permit before you begin your program at MCG Career College.

Work Permit

You or your family members may be eligible for a work permit. Please contact IRCC directly for current eligibility information and application guidance.

Important note regarding work permits: As per current IRCC guidelines, international students graduating from licensed programs at a private career college in Alberta are not eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). Please consult the IRCC website or a registered immigration consultant for the most current information.

Problem Solving & Dispute Process

We are committed to supporting every student through any challenge that may arise during your time at MCG.

If you encounter personal, financial, academic, or health problems during your time in your program, you should approach any instructor who will then attempt to support and guide you to the most appropriate resource(s).

MCG Career College believes that issues are best resolved at the earliest possible stage. Our team is trained to identify support pathways — whether through internal student services, external community agencies, or direct referral to the appropriate MCG staff member.
