Get to know MCG’s Founder, Monika Gupta
“As long as we are not living in harmony with nature and our constitution, we cannot expect ourselves to be really healed. Ayurveda gives us the means.??? – David Frawley
Ayurvedic medicine teaches us that health and wellness depend on a delicate balance between the mind, body and spirit. From humble beginnings in India, Dr. Monika Gupta founded MCG Career College with a vision of applying this idea to elevating health and wellness training programs, and extending it into the lives of students, so they may unlock their potential and become their best selves.
How it all began
Driven by her father’s passion for education, Monika was inspired from a young age to teach. Yet, it was while studying for her Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery that she discovered that physical health and wellbeing are closely connected to one’s spiritual and mental wellbeing. She saw an opportunity to combine her love of teaching and her passion for Ayurvedic medicine to truly help others.
“It was the concepts from Ayurvedic medicine combined with my experience growing up in a household that cherished education which inspired me to dedicate my life to sharing this information with individuals.??? says Monika.
She carried this holistic vision with her when she immigrated to Canada and launched into a career in educational health and wellness, opening MCG Career College (formerly known as the Northern Institute of Massage Therapy). Since then, she has dedicated her life to continuous learning and to sharing her inspiration with future MCG students.
Bringing higher education to others
Today, as MCG’s CEO, Monika maintains a busy schedule. Part of her daily duties include:
- Maintaining full accountability to the government, community and to MCG students
- Managing the expansion of MCG’s programs and campuses
- Providing strategic leadership to the MCG faculty and staff
- Articulating MCG’s vision as a student-focused, collaborative and evidence-based institution
- Connecting and engaging with the communities where MCG operates
Phew!
The list may seem daunting, but Monika is driven to enable every member of the community with an opportunity to learn a new skill, to build a business and earn a living for their families — all through cutting-edge training, top instruction and the flexible program structures offered at MCG.
What’s more? MCG pushes beyond the scope of a traditional training institution. Monika wants to get to know the students and see feels a strong sense of pride when she sees them graduate with the skills and confidence they need to become successful leaders, employees and business owners; ones who can pay it forward, so to speak, and make a tangible difference in the health and well-being of others and in their communities.
